Global Citizenship Program and the 'Singapore' section

This section includes articles that the students of 1.w have written about different Singaporian topics. Since 2008, Rysensteen Gymnasium have been developing a global citizenship program that focuses on educating studens about essential global issues for them to comprehend themselves as citizens in a globalized world. The students learn about cross-cultural differences in individual subjects as well as by working with international schools that Rysensteen has established a partnership with. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to improve the students' abilities to: • Reflect on cultural values including • remaining critical towards these when taking a stand • arguing • empathizing • innovating and creating |
The program consist of several Unique events such as 'RYS-MUN' and 'Citizenship Day'. These events are respectively Model United Nations on a smaller scale and an annual day worth of class hours invested in lectures and political debate between prominent danish politicians.
The regular school days are also marked by the program, where interdisciplinary education include focus on a certain country depending on the respective class. Students also get the opportunity to engage in virtual conversations with students of associated partner schools. One of the projects in the global citizen program involves creating a website with information about the country that a class will later be visiting. A partner school will be involved in major parts of the trip. This section is dedicated to the task of creating such website about Singapore: The country that 1.w will be visiting in a few years. |
